Starting therapy is a difficult decision for most people. Some people come into my office unsure of what to expect or what they will get out of the experience. Many of them have been urged to come into therapy by those in their lives. Others recognize their lives aren't going the way they want them to and come in with a desire to change.
Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy or counseling, I can reassure when you step into my office, you will be treated with respect, compassion, and validation. I believe everyone is doing the best they can with what they know. And that is typically where we start the therapy process - with acceptance of where you are now.
The work I do with my clients is collaborative - we create a treatment plan together, with goals you want to work on. We achieve these goals by building skills, improving understanding and insight into how these behaviors got started in the first place, increasing resources in your life, and essentially, giving you the tools to become your own therapist.
If what you've read resonates for you and you're thinking "maybe...", give me a call and we can discuss it more. I look forward to talking with you!
